What is Homeopathy
A natural medicine that stimulates the body's self-healing abilities
Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843), founder of homeopathy
What is homeopathy
Homeopathy is a gentle alternative medicine based on the law of similitude, dilution and dynamisation of the substance. Homeopathic remedies are prepared from natural substances (minerals, plants, animals) and are diluted and succussed according to a precise process. They stimulate the vital energy of the organism and, administered in infinitesimal doses, are safe for infants, children, pregnant women and the elderly, without side effects.
The fundamental principles
Like cures like
A substance that causes symptoms in high doses can cure them in infinitesimal doses.
Infinitesimal dose
Remedies are diluted and dynamised to achieve healing potency without toxicity.
Totality of symptoms
The remedy is chosen based on all physical, emotional and mental symptoms.
Frequently asked questions about homeopathy
Is homeopathy a recognised medicine?
In Switzerland, homeopathy is recognised as complementary medicine and, since 2017, is included in the basic insurance (LAMal) when practised by a doctor with recognised training. It is one of the five complementary medicines officially recognised by the Swiss Confederation.
Do homeopathic remedies have side effects?
Homeopathic remedies are prepared with very high dilutions and are generally free from toxic or adverse effects. A temporary initial worsening of symptoms can rarely be observed, which is considered a positive sign of response to treatment.
Can homeopathy be used alongside traditional medicines?
Yes, homeopathy is compatible with conventional allopathic treatments. It is important to always inform both your doctor and your homeopath about all ongoing treatments, to ensure an integrated and safe approach.
Is homeopathy suitable for children and infants?
Absolutely. Homeopathy is particularly indicated for children thanks to its complete absence of toxicity. It is effective for colic, teething, recurring infections, sleep disorders and many other typical childhood conditions.
How does the first consultation work?
The first visit generally lasts 60–90 minutes. The homeopath collects a detailed history of the patient: physical symptoms, emotional states, habits, personal reactions and family history. This allows identifying the most suitable homeopathic remedy for the person.
Does homeopathy also work for chronic conditions?
Yes, homeopathy is particularly indicated for chronic conditions such as allergies, eczema, migraine, digestive disorders, anxiety and chronic fatigue. The individualised approach allows working in depth on the causes of the disorder, not just the symptoms.
